GTLight Company has started production of digital LED portals between cities

The company's specialists have developed a set of ready-made proposals for cities, and are also ready to develop an individual solution, taking into account the characteristics of the urban environment.

LED portals connecting cities are a novelty from GTLight. There are very few examples of installation of such structures. The digital bridge can be seen today in Vilnius and Lublin, as well as in Grozny and Shali. But an analysis of the overall development of the modern urban environment and the high speed of its digitalization suggest that such objects will appear in settlements more and more often. The relevance of visual bridges in a pandemic is undeniable. High-tech art objects will help keep residents feeling united and make cities more attractive from a tourist point of view during periods of easing restrictions.

LED portal between cities is a complex system that combines different types of equipment:

  • high-resolution LED screen;
  • cameras for online filming and broadcasting;
  • directional microphones;
  • acoustics integrated into the body;
  • real-time rendering technology;
  • professional software;
  • remote control system.

Digital portals for installation on city squares differ in many ways from conventional LED screens. Taking into account the peculiarities of operation and specific functionality, the designers and specialists of the technical department of JT Light developed the optimal solution and selected components with the necessary characteristics.

Features of GTLight LED portals

  • Street performance. This is a necessary condition for trouble-free operation of the equipment. For the assembly of digital LED portals, only outdoor modules with a high degree of protection are used. This takes into account the climatic features of a particular region in which the installation is planned. For the northern cities, the kit is supplemented by a heating system, the portal for installation in the south, on the contrary, is supplied with an additional air conditioner.
  • Small pixel pitch. To achieve the desired effect and impress passers-by, the image on the screen must be of excellent quality. Modules with a pixel pitch of 3 mm or less help us solve the problem. The smallest pixel pitch for outdoor screens today is 2.5 mm. It is these modules that JT Light uses in the implementation of projects of long-distance portals.
  • Optimal brightness. It would seem that for outdoor use, the screen brightness should be as high as possible. But practice shows that too bright displays are not suitable as portals. Spectators look at such screens from a very close distance, which means that an excessively bright glow will irritate the eyesight. The optimal brightness indicators for LED portals are 3000-4000 cd/m2.
  • High refresh rate. A small viewing distance also dictates the need to update the image with a very high frequency. We use modules with a refresh rate of 3840 Hz and higher. Such indicators ensure the absence of image defects. The image does not “streak” or “smear” when objects move in the video.
  • Cameras + sound. To create an online broadcast, professional cameras for teleconferences are used. Directional microphone models ensure the highest quality recording of audience voices on both sides of the digital bridge. The acoustics are selected in such a way that the sound remains clear without overlaps and feedback due to the “crossing” of the coverage areas of the microphone and speakers.
  • Light sensor. The small power consumption of the portal makes it energy efficient, which is achieved not only due to the small display area, but also due to the decrease in the brightness of the glow in the dark and cloudy weather.
  • High contrast. Another characteristic that affects image quality. Contrast is also increased through the use of "mask" modules. A special protective mask prevents the occurrence of glare on the surface of the compound, which fills the space between the diodes. Deep blacks absorb sunlight while also enhancing image contrast.
  • Remote control. For efficient operation and operational control, the equipment is controlled remotely using Bluetooth and Wi-Fi wireless technologies.
  • Low noise level. GTLight equipment belongs to the low noise class. The noise level during the operation of the LED portal is significantly lower than the levels established for this type of equipment.
  • Vandal resistant. To prevent damage to the portal LED canvas due to human actions and accidental mechanical impacts, the front surface is protected by armored glass.
  • Futuristic Design

    As the main model of the GTLight LED portal, they used the traditional shape of the round "window" between the worlds, presented in the world-famous Stargate movie universe. Similar models have already been installed in 2 European cities. The shape of the circle is not only a symbolic reference to the fantastic saga, but also has a number of advantages from a practical point of view. Smooth curves and lack of sharp corners reduce the risk of accidental injury to bystanders. And the arcuate shape prevents the accumulation of precipitation on the surface.

    Another standard model for an LED portal is a vertical rectangle. This design is also very symbolic as it mimics a "door between worlds". In addition, the concise shape reduces the total cost of the LED screen, thanks to an economical geometry that is optimal for building from LED modules that are traditionally rectangular in shape.

    It is possible to develop an individual project by the design studio JT Light.

    • Recommendations for location (direction to the cardinal points).
    • Design calculation taking into account wind, snow, temperature loads.
    • Creating a 3D LED portal layout.
    • Visualization of the structure with reference to the photo of the installation site.
    • Installation and maintenance

      Our company provides a full range of services for the installation of LED portals between cities on a turnkey basis. Before starting work, a reconnaissance is carried out on the ground to determine the optimal installation point (sunny / shady side, location of street communications, pedestrian traffic, etc.). Based on the received data, a project is being developed.

      After agreeing on the technical specifications, the order is sent to production. Each structural element and equipment is tested for burnout and moisture resistance. The logistics service organizes the delivery of products to any regions. We have successful experience in transportation to hard-to-reach areas using rail, air, road and river transport.

      The installation teams of the company are equipped with all the necessary equipment and tools to perform complex work, including employees who have the appropriate permits for working with electrics, high-rise, welding, etc. Installation of the LED portal is carried out on a turnkey basis with equipment setup and commissioning. During the period of operation, service maintenance is carried out within the framework of the warranty provided, as well as post-warranty maintenance.

      Cooperation with municipalities

      We prepare technical specifications for state and municipal customers in accordance with the requirements of federal law. We analyze the market, participate in bidding at all major auction sites. The terms of reference are drawn up taking into account all the requirements for LED products used on the streets of cities, and work on its installation, which is the protection of the customer's auction from the supply of low-quality equipment. You can find out prices for standard models of LED portals, calculate the exact cost of the project, taking into account installation work, as well as ask other questions by leaving a request on our website.
