Transparent media facade: selection guide

Standard slatted media facades are a popular and economical solution if you need to create a large advertising field. However, there are situations when the installation of such models of LED blocks is not possible. For example, if it is necessary to observe the maximum percentage of light transmission: installation on glazed facades, in window openings, shop windows, etc. For such situations, GTLight offers a special technical solution - acrylic media facades, the transparency of which reaches 80%.

Operating conditions

Like other media facades / LED screens, acrylic models differ in the degree of surface protection. In addition to a high degree of protection, outdoor transparent media facades are distinguished by increased contrast. Acrylic media facades of GTLight are equipped with an ultra-black color mask, which allows you to achieve maximum clarity in the shades of the reproduced content. Resistance to UV radiation allows you to expand the operating temperature range of the transparent media facade up to +120 degrees. The basis of the LED blocks is made in 2 shades: black and gray for the most organic and inconspicuous integration into buildings with a finish of any materials. The tightness of the equipment is ensured by a reinforced seal and the use of waterproof power supplies.

Interior media facades - models with the highest degree of transparency. It reaches 80%, which allows you to install acrylic media facades in window openings, shop windows and other glass surfaces. In addition to high transparency, interior models are lightweight. The GTLight line includes not only “rigid” media facade blocks, but also flexible and even film models, the thickness of which does not exceed 3 mm. This allows you to create media structures of complex shape for unusual architectural objects and creative art solutions.

Diode location

Most often, manufacturers can sell media facades with front-mounted LEDs. GTLight also included models with lateral diodes in its lineup. We did this because such media facade blocks have a number of features that frontal models lack in certain installation conditions.

For example, in the case of high requirements for the transparency of the media facade, it is advisable to choose a model with a side glow. If we take 2 blocks with the same pixel pitch, but different arrangement of diodes, in the case of the frontal model, this figure will be 60%, and for the media facade with a side arrangement of LEDs, the transparency reaches 85%!

Media facades with side glow have another advantage - due to this arrangement, the diodes are more protected from external influences, that is, such a facade is less likely to be damaged mechanically.

But it should be borne in mind that the viewing angle of the side media facades is smaller. It does not matter if the media facade is located above human eyes, and they will look at it directly, or slightly from below. But when viewed from above, the picture will immediately deteriorate, since the lamellas will partially block the glow.

Specifications and dimensions

Dimensions of blocks of acrylic media facades are different. In GTLight, we use blocks with dimensions of 1x1 m, and for objects with dimensions that are not multiples of 1 meter, blocks of 0.5x1 m.

The next important parameter is the pixel pitch. Since transparent media facades are most often installed at a small distance from the intended audience, this figure should be less than that of conventional rack models. GTLight presents media facades with a pitch of 3.91 - 7.81 mm.

The refresh rate also affects image quality. We do not recommend considering options with a frequency of less than 1920 Hz. In combination with a small pixel pitch and a small size of the entire media facade, this will lead to flickering and general “instability” of the picture. We are ready to offer models with a high refresh rate, up to 3840 Hz and more.

If you plan a media facade of a complex shape with differences along the plane, etc., we use flexible acrylic media facades. The plastic base allows you to bend blocks up to a maximum diameter of 640 mm. The rather high price makes such media facades in demand only for objects of small size and really complex configuration, when it is impossible to implement the idea in any other way. The remaining parameters of flexible media facades practically coincide with the characteristics of "hard" models: brightness from 500 for interior, up to 6000 cd/m2 for outdoor media facades, pixel pitch from 3.9 mm, transparency 80%.

The weight of a transparent media façade can also be a decisive factor when choosing. If the bearing capacity of the surface on which the installation is planned is small, then lightweight models should be considered. The weight of GTLight media facade blocks starts from 8 kg. Such models can be mounted even in window openings. The weight of "heavy" rigid blocks is up to 16 kg, which is also quite a bit for such equipment.

GTLight managers will help you choose a transparent media facade according to its characteristics and cost. Leave a request, write to sales@gtlamp.ru or call us at 8 800 555-05-07.
